Forever Foster program
The dogs on this page are part of Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas' Forever Foster Program. These dogs may have chronic medical conditions requiring ongoing medical expenses or they may be of an advanced age or for some other reason CSR-ET feels their changes of being adopted are very slight. We are committed to the long term care of these CockerKids and providing them with a safe, comfortable and loving home. Of course, CSRET would love to place them in the right home, but we recognize they are probably going live out their lives in foster homes.
Bella

Chandler
Chandler joined CSRET in May of 2017 from a shelter in East Texas. Chan had one of the worst cases of heartworms that we have seen. It took over a year to treat them. He has permanent damage to his heart and lungs from the heartworms - and because of this, we cannot neuter him or do his dental because we do not want to risk putting him under anesthesia. Chan also takes several medications daily to help with his heart and lungs. Chan has 3 sisters in his foster home whom he loves to give kisses too. Chan LOVES life and LOVES food. He also loves to chew bones - especially the Himalayan cheese sticks. Chan is a true inspiration to everyone.

Ethan
You'd never know it now, but when Ethan checked into the Cocker Inn, he was a little on the pudgy side, 32 pounds pudgy, but that could be because of his thyroid condition. He also had some skin problems, but those too, may have been thyroid related. Once Ethan moved from a Houston area shelter to the Cocker Inn, where started getting proper nourishment, medical attention and a big helping of TLC, things started looking up for him. After the first month we could see a marked improvement. With continuing care, this guy looks like a completely different dog. Ethan has to take medicine every day for his thyroid, but for the home that doesn't mind a little extra medical attention, Ethan will return the love many times over.
Freckleberry
Freckleberry is a handsome tan and white fella with an enormous amount of energy. He is over 4 years old and is a quirky guy. He has an aversion to crates but behaves nicely in the house (as long as any important items have been secured ). He has a compulsion to greet his foster day by taking a running leap into his arms and licking him squarely on the nose. He insists on sharing a bed with his foster family, curling up against one or the other of them to sleep, eventually pushing the human out of bed. He is house broken, and will tell you when he needs to "step outside". He does fine with children over twelve years old as long as they treat him kindly. Freckleberry needs daily exercise and a patient owner who will work with him. Because of Freckleberry's separation anxiety and other behavior challenges, we'd like him to stay close to the Cocker Inn. We've have many inquiries about Freckleberry, but just haven't found quite the right match so Freckleberry has transferred to the Forever Foster Program, where he's comfortable, happy, and one of the family.
Harvey
This handsome boy found his way into the forever foster wing because of his incontinence, obsession over light and shadows, chronic ear infections and the need to be the "one and only." He is living out his senior years with an understanding family that doesn't mind wee pads and daily mopping.
Hemmy
Hemmy came to CSRET after his original family let this blind dog wander off to a construction site where he fell into a water-filled hole and treaded water to stay alive. Now diagnosed with Addison's disease, this senior fella stays comfortable in the forever foster wing where he has a handicap ramp and receives expensive medications to maintain his health.
Jojo
I was adopted out when I was two years old. After eight years I came back into CSRET because my ears were hard and painful. CSRET along with your donations helped me have the ear ablation surgery that I needed. I cannot hear a thing but that is OK. I am a happy boy and walk around with my tail wagging all the time. I love to get in my humans lap. I do have to be on cyclosporine drops twice a day because when they did the surgery a facial nerve got touched and my eyes don’t close all the way. I do have cataracts but I am not a candidate for eye surgery.
Ladybug
Maisie
looked so forlorn at the shelter that our volunteer just couldn't resist those sad eyes. We can't can't quite place the breed that comprise her mix. Maybe a little cocker? What makes her beautiful plumed tail curl over her back? What breeds contribute to the triangular face and long but slender legs? No matter what her heritage, she is a handsome, athletic girl, about 18 months old.
It is obvious Maisie had a rough start in life. She is very defensive and cowers when you approach to pet her. It takes her a significant amount of time to trust people. She is full of energy and loves to frolic. Maisie will never be a cuddler but she can be a fun, active dog. Unless the just right home comes along, Masie will be fine as one of the Cocker Inn's Forever Fosters.

Oscar
I am the sweetest cockapoo there ever was in the world! I am always happy to be around my human. I am completely blind now and I do have to take eyedrops twice a day for dry and then drops for glaucoma but I am happy and I am not in pain. I think I’m around 14 years old.
Polo
Rags
This handsome boy is around 6 years old and is a true gentleman. He survived a very rugged past and was a diamond in the ruff when he crawled into the medical wing of the Cocker Inn. His ears were hurting because they were completely calcified from years of neglect and he was suffering with issues with both of his eyes. But through the CockerKids medical plan he's had ear ablation surgery on both ears. That means that the ear canals have been removed and he will never have another ear infection for the rest of this life! WooooHooooo! No more yucky ears for his family to have to clean or medicate....EVER! His eyes are much better too. They require a drop or two of inexpensive medication daily to maintain them and that's it. His hearing and vision may be limited but it doesn't stop this laid back and easy going boy from watching his foster mom get ready for work everyday And when she gets home, he is the first to hop in her lap. Ragsdale gets along great with everyone and is an all around great dog! A doggy door is a necessity for this perfectly house trained pup. He loves nyla bones and going for rides in the car.

Scooby
With a wonderful sable coat, this blind boy is handsome and sweet. But he needs a stay-at-home family or else this little fella starts to eat wooden trim and drool from anxiety. He found comfort and peace with his forever foster family.

Willam
William has checked into the Assisted Living Wing of the Cocker Inn, coming to us straight from the bayous of Louisiana. He tells us that he's wrestled a gator two but we think he's pullin' our leg. This ole guys probably pushing 13 or 14 years old because he's blind as a mud bug and can't hear much either. He's a quite little guy that still loves stuffed animals and following his human around everywhere but he would really love to have a lap to sit in and someone to share a little Boudan with him ever now and then. Other than some drops for his eyes and some medicine for his ears, he's in pretty good shape for an old fellow and we absolutely adore him!
Zoe
Zuzu
ZuZu received life changing cataract surgery with CSRET. Though her sight was restored, she was just too ornery for regular adopters so this midnight beauty made her way into the hearts and home of a forever foster family.
